We work closely with our partners to support growth, strengthen operations, and allocate capital thoughtfully.
Managing Partner
Mr. Gurley is the Founder and Managing Partner of Haywood Lane, where he is responsible for directing strategy, developing investment opportunities and capital allocation. He currently serves on the board of directors for Alta Arbor Holdings (Chairman) and Wilkerson Crane Rental.
Mr. Gurley founded Haywood Lane following over 15 years in investment banking, most recently as a Managing Director with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. He was formerly a Partner and Managing Director at Blackhill Partners prior to its acquisition by Stephens Inc. He received his BA from the University of Mississippi.
Partner
Mr. Luck is a Partner at Haywood Lane and leads all day-to-day operations of the Firm. He also serves as President of Alta Arbor Holdings, a leading operator of landscape products businesses.
Randy joined Haywood Lane in 2023 after 10 years at Bain & Company, where he guided corporate and private equity-owned clients on merger integration and post-acquisition strategy.
He received his BBA from Texas A&M University and his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Partner
Ms. Tervo is a Partner at Haywood Lane, where she actively participates in underwriting new investments and oversees financial reporting and forecasting across the holding and portfolio companies.
Megan joined Haywood Lane in 2024 from the Boston Consulting Group where she primarily served in the CFO Excellence practice.
She began her career at PwC in the audit practice. She received her BSB from the University of Minnesota and her MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Principal
Mr. Pownell is a Principal at Haywood Lane with responsibility for managing the acquisition process for our portfolio companies. Trevor focuses on business development, target underwriting and due diligence, and execution of value creation plans.
Trevor joined Haywood Lane after 5 years at Bain & Company, where he focused on private equity diligence and strategic transformation.
He received his BBA from Texas A&M University and his MBA from the Yale School of Management.
Principal
Mr. Waggoner is a Principal at Haywood Lane, where he brings a combination of investment banking, private equity, and operational experience to the firm. Wilson began his career at Guggenheim Securities before joining Citi's Global Energy Group, accumulating over $25 billion in aggregate transaction experience.
Most recently, Wilson served as a Director at Providence Investment Partners, a Dallas-based lower middle market private equity firm, deepening his expertise in founder- and family-owned businesses.
He received his B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia.
Our Anchor Partner
David Rees-Jones is a Founding Partner of Haywood Lane and a member of the general partner. He is concurrently the President of Rees-Jones Holdings, where he oversees acquisitions, investments, and strategic direction across its portfolio, including Chief Energy, Chief Energy Partners, and DGRJ Ventures.
Additionally, Mr. Rees-Jones serves on the board of Suncrete, Inc. (NASDAQ: RMIX), a leading platform of ready-mix concrete providers, and Pine Wave Energy Partners, an exploration and production company focused on the Haynesville Shale. David began his career in the energy sector, where he has spent over a decade specializing in mineral and non-operated asset acquisitions. He was involved with Chief Oil & Gas during a period of significant growth, culminating in the company’s $3 billion sale to Chesapeake Energy.
Mr. Rees-Jones also serves on the board of the Rees-Jones Foundation and is active in nonprofit initiatives across North Texas. He holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Christian University.
